On the average Don & Janet take 70 steps to complete their award-winning cosplay props and art pieces.

They are the masters at creating cosplay prop weaponry including guns and crossbows that fit perfectly into the realms of science fiction, fantasy, and steampunk.

Other pieces include decorative hot air balloons, helmets, and award-winning costume pieces from vests to hats, and from cummerbunds to jewelry to name a few.

Take to Create Their Cosplay Props and Art

  1. Select a base toy gun, crossbow, or other piece

  2. Remove labels

  3. Hand sand any unwanted raised lettering

  4. Disassemble if painting multiple colors, inserting lighting, and/or salvaging using mechanisms

  5. Full sand the entire piece (pieces)

  6. Wipe down

  7. Prime

  8. Dry

  9. Paint

  10. Dry

  11. Touch up

  12. Dry

  13. Rig lighting or other special effects that need to be done before the piece is reassembled

  14. Reassemble

  15. If making a non-functioning prop, glue down any cocking mechanisms and/or barrel(s) if so desired

  16. Dry

  17. Decide on embellishments

  18. Layout embellishments on side 1

  19. Glue/attach embellishments to side 1

  20. Dry

  21. Layout embellishments on side 2

  22. Glue/attach embellishments to side 2

  23. Dry

  24. Layout embellishments on bottom (if any)

  25. Glue/attach embellishments to bottom

  26. Dry

  27. Layout embellishments on top (if any)

  28. Glue/attach embellishments to top

  29. Dry

  30. Layout embellishments on handle (if any)

  31. Glue/attach embellishments

  32. Dry

  33. Layout embellishments on barrel (if any)

  34. Glue/attach embellishments

  35. Dry

  36. Weather bottom
